Certification of Elections Results – Elections 2023
Following are the Election Results of the Cree Nation of Waskaganish respecting the position of Chief and five (5) Councillors.
In accordance Section #65 of the Cree Nation of Waskaganish Law No 230: respecting elections, Should no candidate for the position of Chief or Deputy Chief have received at least fifty percent (50%) plus one (1) of the ballots cast (excluding the damaged and rejected ballots), the Returning Officer shall list the names of the two (2) candidates who received the most ballots. He or she shall inform each of these two (2) candidates and the Cree First Nation Secretary of the results of the vote and shall call a run-off election between these two (2) candidates. In my capacity as the Returning Officer, I hereby call for a RUN-OFF Election between Greta Whiskeychan and Samson Wischee. (John Henry Wapachee - Returning Officer)
Based on the Election Results, I hereby declare Conrad Blueboy, Brenda Lynn Hester, Hannah Moses (Jacob), Mary Jane Salt, Tyrone Blackned elected as Councillors of the Cree Nation of Waskaganish for a term of four (4) years from the date of the elections.
In my capacity as the Returning Officer, I hereby certify the Election Results AND I HAVE SIGNED, in Waskaganish, this 6th day of June 2023.
